Alpha Epsilon Delta was founded on April 28, 1926, at the University of Alabama by Dr. Sidney A. Mitchell in collaboration with Dr. Jack Montgomery. In a small initiation of fifteen pre-medical students, AED was born. Although the initial constitution limited membership to male students, women were included not long after in 1929. 

Throughout the next 90 years, AED chapters spread across the United States, making it the oldest and largest pre-health fraternity in the country. Today, there are over 144,000 members within 186 chapters. 

Alpha Epsilon Delta's colors are red and violet; its flower is the red rose. The Scalpel, AED's national report, is released each semester and highlights chapter accomplishments. Visit the link here to read the National Fall 2023 Scalpel Report!

  • An active member in PHPS for at least 4 semesters*

  • At least a second-semester sophomore*

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.30

  • Cumulative Science GPA of 3.30 BCPM

    • Biology, Chemistry, Physics, & Math

  • *Transfer students email aeduiuc@gmail.com to check eligibility 

How to Apply:

  • Fill in and print out the National Membership Record Form and give to AED officers to collect

    • Answers MUST be typed, not written

  • Pay $75 fee to @AlphaEpsilonDeltaUIUC on Venmo or in cash to President/VP
